BASIC RULES

 

Legal Techniques for All Levels


  • Palm thrusts or open hand shoves to torso
  • Stomping on foot when both opponents are standing
  • Jumping/Flying/Diving Attacks to standing opponent that don't target the head, neck, spine, groin or front of the knee.
  • Splashing/Guard Crashing Attacks to grounded opponent facing up as long as it is torso to torso  




Legal Techniques for Advanced Teens, Intermediate Adults, and Advanced Adults


  •  All Chokes except for using the hand to close the wind pipe
  •  Any arm bar, shoulder lock, or wrist lock
  •  Any Leg Lock or Ankle Lock
  •  Palm thrusts, open hand slaps, open hand chops to torso, legs, and arms
  •  Forearm strike to front of torso
  •  Clothesline/lariat/swinging inner arm attacks below the neck
  •  Slams that do not drop opponent on their head or compress the spine

 



Illegal Techniques for Everyone:


  •  No headbutts 
  •  No biting
  •  No use of any part of your head against opponent's head, neck, spine, or groin
  •  No closed fist striking of any kind
  •  No slaps, palm thrusts, or forearms to the face, neck, spine, or groin
  •  No hands, knees, or elbows on face
  •  No elbow strikes
  •  No kicking
  •  No stomping on any part of the body except the foot when both opponents are standing
  •  No standing on the head, neck, spine, or groin.
  •  No hair pulling 
  •  No eye gouging or fish hooking
  •  No grabbing the ears
  •  No hands over the nose
  •  No choking with the hands
  •  No small joint manipulation
  •  No grabbing, striking, or pushing against opponents groin
  •  No head drops, piledrivers, or other slams and throws that compress the neck and spine
  •  No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing


Illegal Techniques for Beginners', All Children's, Teens' Beginner, and Teen's Intermediate Divisions

  •  No slamming
  •  No neck cranks
  •  No crucifix holds
  •  No Full Nelson
  •  No can opener
  •  No cross-face holds or cross-face chokes
  •  No heel hooks
  •  No toeholds
  •  No foot locks that twist the knee


SCORING


Points are tallied in every match an opponent has regardless of the victory condition.  These points are applied towards their seasonal and year to date totals to determine eligibility for events as well as a contributing faction into their pay.



TAKEDOWNS: 2 POINTS


  • Any technique that doesn't involve lifting the opponent. Points are scored when opponent's butt, back, side, stomach, and at least 2 appendages (i.e. both knees, both hands, or one of each) touch the mat.
  • Slips do not count against attacker but if defender gains a dominant position it will count as their point
  • Shove downs
  • Knockdowns
  • Trips
  • Drag Down 
  • Single and Double Legs
  • Seated/Kneeling Arm Drag



LIFTS AND SLAMS: 3 POINTS


  • Power double
  • Belly to Belly
  • Belly to Back
  • Gut wrench
  • Scoop Slam
  • High Crotch
  • Hip Toss
  • Standing Arm Drag



OVER THE SHOULDER/OVER HEAD THROWS: 4 POINTS


  • Fireman's Carry
  • German Suplex
  • Monkey Flip
  • Harai-Goshi
  • Ura-Nage



MAINTAIN CONTROL FOR 4 SECONDS: 8 POINTS


GRAPPLE OUT:  8 Points


SUBMISSION OR TRAP: 24 POINTS

  • A trap occurs when any two appendages (i.e. one arm and one leg, both legs, one leg and the head, etc) are trapped simultaneously for 3 seconds. Opponent must free at least one appendage to stop the count 





COMPETITON CATEGORIES

SUBMIT OR GRAPPLE OUT



  • 1 minute time limit unless specified in pre-match stipulation
  • All throws that are legal at your level of competition are permissible
  • To achieve a grapple out victory, both of your opponent's feet must touch outside of the competition area
  • Submission attempts must occur while opponent is standing but can be finished in any position



Takedown Challenge

 

  • 4 minute Time Limit unless stipulated otherwise
  • All takedowns permissible at experience level 
  • Win conditions include first takedown; best of an agreed upon number; most during the time period; specific takedown or throw

Dynamic Grapple

Most Points or Score 24

  • Same scoring criteria 
  • Competitor with most points at the end of time limit wins
  • Anytime 24 points are scored, the bout ends

4 Control

  • First competitor to maintain one of the four dominant positions for 4 seconds wins.

  • Total Control stipulation calls for all four dominant positions to be achieved
